Tracey Dunn, Biologist, ARC Lead

Tracey grew up in Torrance, where childhood memories of the marsh flooding onto Madrona Avenue sparked an early respect for nature and wildlife. As a student, she even helped advocate for saving the Marsh, planting the seeds for a lifelong commitment to conservation. Tracey studied ecology and environmental science and policy, then worked as an Environmental Scientist with the Department of Water Resources, gaining experience with CEQA, Environmental Impact Reports, and environmental protection frameworks. After starting a family, she transitioned to work closer to home and joined Madrona Marsh, where she continues to protect local biodiversity and ensure native plants and wildlife have a safe place to thrive and migrate

Jonathan Nakai, Biologist, ARC Lead

Jonathan started volunteering at Madrona in 2015 and became part of the staff in 2017. He also works as an environmental consultant for companies such as SoCal Edison, SoCalGas, PG&E, and Los Angeles Parks, ensuring work crews remain in compliance with environmental regulations. Outside of work, Jonathan loves birding, hiking, and rock climbing. He is also a member of the world-famous Magic Castle in Hollywood.

A lifelong Southern California resident, she believes in the power of collective action to create lasting environmental change and inspires others to join the movement for a greener Earth. In her free time, she enjoys astronomy, discovering local plants and wildlife, and hiking regional trails and state parks.
